東京五輪・パラ、海外からの観客受け入れを断念

Japan will not allow international spectators into the country for the Tokyo Games this year amid concerns over the coronavirus, organizers said on March 20.

Tokyo Games organizers will refund around 630,000 tickets for the games. The tickets were bought by overseas residents.

The Japanese public is strongly against holding the games, but the organizers and Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga still want to stage the Olympics and Paralympics starting from July 23, 2021.

組織委員会は3月20日、コロナウイルス感染症が広がる最中、今年の東京大会では、国内に海外からの観客を受け入れないと発表した。

東京大会の組織委員会は、およそ63万枚の観戦試合のチケットを払い戻す予定。これらのチケットは海外在住者が購入していたものである。

大会開催に多くの国民が反対しているが、組織委員会と菅義偉総理は2021年7月23日から始まるオリンピックとパラリンピックを開催したいと考えている。
