大相撲、ロンドン公演が盛況のうち閉幕

The five-day Grand Sumo Tournament in London closed out with a bang on Oct. 19.

At the packed Royal Albert Hall, yokozuna Hoshoryu defeated fellow yokozuna Onosato, earning himself a perfect 5-0 record.

It was only the second time a sumo tournament was held in London.

Local people had been charmed by seeing sumo wrestlers on the capital’s streets, walking around — and sometimes riding on bikes.

5日間の大相撲ロンドン公演は、10月19日に華々しく幕を閉じた。

満員のロイヤル・アルバート・ホールで、横綱の豊昇龍が同じく横綱の大の里を破り、5連勝を記録した。

ロンドンで大相撲のトーナメントが開催されたのは、今回で2度目だ。

地元の人々は、力士たちがロンドンの街を歩いたり、ときには自転車に乗ったりする姿を見て楽しんだ。
