石破総理、決選投票で再選される

Shigeru Ishiba won an important vote in the Diet on Nov. 11 and will stay on as prime minister.

He faced a Diet vote to keep his role after his Liberal Democratic Party lost seats in the recent Lower House elections.

He didn’t get enough votes for a simple majority in the first round of voting.

However, he won the second round with 221 votes — still not a majority but enough to remain as prime minister.

石破茂氏が11月11日、国会で重要な投票に勝利し、首相を続投することになった。

先ごろ行われた衆院選で自民党が議席数を減らしたため、石破氏は首相の座を維持するべく国会での投票に臨んだ。

石破氏は１回目の投票では単純過半数に達する票を得られなかった。

しかし、２回目の投票（決選投票）で221票を獲得し、過半数には達しないものの、首相の座にとどまることができる得票数だった。
