地方自治体、エスカレーターでの歩行禁止を呼びかけ

An increasing number of local authorities in Japan want people to stand still on escalators, for safety’s sake.
Fukuoka is trying outnew ways to discourage walking on escalators.

Saitama Prefecture and the city of Nagoya have ordinances for escalator users to stand still. There are no penalties, however.

Because escalator steps are bigger than normal stairs, users are more likely to fall, says escalator maker Hitachi Building Systems.

安全のため、エスカレーターでは、立ち止まるよう求める自治体が増えている。

福岡市では、エスカレーターで歩かないで立ち止まる新たなキャンペーンが試験的に導入されている。

埼玉県や名古屋市では、エスカレーター利用者が立ち止まることを定めた条例が制定されている。ただし、罰則は設けられていない。

エスカレーターメーカーの日立ビルシステムは、エスカレーターのステップ（踏み段）は、通常の階段よりも段差が大きいため転倒しやすいとしている。
