小池氏が東京都知事として3回目の当選

Yuriko Koike was reelected as Tokyo’s governor in the July 7 election.

She won a third four-year term with nearly 3 million votes, or 42.8% of the total.

Shinji Ishimaru, a former mayor of the city of Akitakata in Hiroshima Prefecture, was second with 1.65 million votes, followed by Renho, a former lawmaker backed by the main opposition party.

Koike said she was “deeply grateful” to voters who turned out in the hot weather.

小池百合子氏が7月7日に投開票のあった都知事選で、東京都知事に再選された。

同氏は約300万票、全投票数の42.8%を獲得し、3期目4年間の任期を勝ち取った。

広島県安芸高田市の元市長、石丸伸二氏は165万票で2位となり、その後に最大野党の支援を受けていた蓮舫元国会議員が続いた。

小池氏は、暑い中投票に足を運んでくれた有権者に「深く感謝している」と述べた。
