サル痘がアフリカ以外でも確認：研究者困惑

Scientists in Africa that monitor monkeypox on the continent are puzzled by outbreaks of the disease in Europe and North America.

The disease is spreading in countries like Britain, Spain, Italy, the U.S. and Canada.

As of May 21, there were over 100 cases, said the World Health Organization.

Monkeypox is related to smallpox. It normally causes fever, chills, rash and lesions. Smallpox vaccines can protect against monkeypox.

アフリカ大陸でサル痘の発生の調査をしている研究者たちは、ヨーロッパと北アメリカでサル痘が発生したことに困惑している。

サル痘は、イギリス、スペイン、イタリア、アメリカ、カナダなどの国々で広がっている。

5月21日時点で、100人以上の感染を確認したとWHO (World Health Organization 世界保健機関)が公表している。

サル痘は天然痘と近い関係があり、通常は発熱、悪寒、発疹、病斑を引き起こす。天然痘ワクチンはサル痘予防にも効果がある。
