琵琶湖の底で縄文土器発見

An ancient piece of pottery has been found at the bottom of Lake Biwa, according to the Shiga prefectural government.

The pottery is 25 centimeters tall and is in nearly complete condition. It is likely from the early Jomon Period, around 11,000 to 10,500 years ago.

The Shiga government thinks it was used to boil things.

The pottery was found at a depth of about 64 meters by an unmanned underwater vehicle in October.

滋賀県によると、琵琶湖の湖底で古い時代の土器が発見された。

この土器は高さ約25センチで、ほぼ完全な形を保っている。縄文時代早期のもので、約1万1000年から1万500年前のものとみられる。

滋賀県は、この土器が煮炊きをするために使われていたと考えている。

この土器は、10月に無人の潜水機によって、水深約64メートルで発見された。
