地雷を嗅ぎ分ける巨大ネズミの勇気ある行動にメダル授与

A giant rat that seeks out unexploded land mines in Cambodia has been awarded a prize for animal bravery from a British charity. Internal conflicts between the 1960s and 1980s left many land mines in Cambodia.

Magawa is a specially trained 70-centimeter-long giant African pouched rat. He has found 39 land mines in the last seven years.

The British charity PDSA gave Magawa a Gold Medal for animal bravery for his “life-saving bravery and devotion.”

カンボジアで不発の地雷を見つける巨大なネズミが、イギリスの慈善団体より勇敢な動物として表彰された。1960年代から80年代にかけての内戦により、カンボジアには多くの地雷が残されたままとなっている。

マガワは特別な訓練を受けた体長70cmのアフリカオニネズミ。マガワは過去７年間で39個の地雷を発見した。

英国の慈善団体PDSA（People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals）は、人命を救ったマガワの勇敢さと献身を称えて金メダルを授けた。
