Want to operate an out-of-sight drone? You may have to get a license

The Japanese government is planning to require drone operators to obtain a license if they want to operate a drone that flies out of their sight, a news source said on March 30.

To get the license, people will have to pass a written and a practical exam, and also meet an age restriction. The licenses will be valid for a certain period of time and will have to be renewed.

The licensing system will be introduced in 2022, the source said.

3月30日のニュース報道によると、政府は操縦者の目が届かない距離を飛ばすドローンの操縦に免許の取得を義務づける方針だという。

免許取得には、学科試験と実技試験両方に合格する必要があり、年齢制限もある。免許は一定期間有効で、更新が必要になる見込みだ。

免許制度は2022年に導入される予定だとこの情報筋は述べた。
