憲法記念日、都内で護憲・改憲の集会開催

On May 3, people marked Constitution Day by holding events in Tokyo — with opposite views.

About 21,000 people gathered at an open forum in Chiyoda Ward. Many supported changing the Constitution to allow Japan to have a stronger defense force.

At a park in Koto Ward, about 38,000 people were at a rally opposed to changing the Constitution.

Some of the participants said Japan should seek peace using the current Constitution.

５月３日、憲法記念日を迎え、憲法に対し全く違う立場で考えるイベントがそれぞれが開催された。

千代田区で行われた公開フォーラムには約21,000人が集まった。多くの参加者が日本がより強い防衛力を保有できるよう、憲法を改正することを支持した。

一方、江東区の公園では、約38,000人が憲法改正に反対する集会に参加した。

参加者の中には、現行の憲法を活かして日本は平和を追求すべきだと語る者もいた。
