京都市、宿泊税を引き上げへ

The city of Kyoto plans to raise its accommodation tax to the highest level in Japan.

The plan has different tax rates depending on the cost of a stay.

Under the planned system, the lowest rate is ¥200 for rooms charging less than ¥6,000 for an overnight stay per person. The highest rate is ¥10,000 for stays costing ¥100,000 or more.

Kyoto officials said they aim to introduce the tax increase in March 2026.

京都市は同市の宿泊税を国内で最も高額の水準に引き上げることを計画している。

計画では、宿泊代によって税額が異なるという。

予定される制度では、最低税額は200円で、一人当たり一泊6,000円未満の宿泊代に対し課税される。最高税額は10,000円で、10万円以上の宿泊代に課される。

京都市は、この増税案を2026年3月から導入することを目指している。
