JR、点検車両「ドクターイエロー」引退へ

The “Doctor Yellow” shinkansen track-testing trains are coming to the end of the line.

Popularly known for their bright yellow exterior, the testing trains are used to check the condition of tracks and overhead wires for the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines.

The trains are to be retired due to their age, according to their operators.

Central Japan Railway will end Doctor Yellow operations next January. West Japan Railway will stop theirs in 2027.

新幹線の検査専用車両「ドクターイエロー」の引退が近付いている。

その鮮やかな黄色の外観で人気のある点検用車両は、東海道新幹線と山陽新幹線の線路と架線の状態をチェックするために使用されている。

運行会社によると、これら車両は老朽化のため引退することとなった。

JR東海は来年1月にドクターイエローの運行を終了し、JR西日本は2027年をめどに運行を終える。
