地質学者、「モナ・リザ」が描かれた場所の手掛かりを発見

For hundreds of years, where the Mona Lisa was painted has been a mystery.

Now, Ann Pizzorusso, a geologist and Italian Renaissance specialist, claims to know where the location is.

It is Lecco, a small town facing Lake Como in northern Italy. The limestone rocks of Lecco match those in the background landscape of Leonardo da Vinci’s painting, she says.

Art historian Michael Daley says her findings are very convincing.

数百年もの間、「モナ・リザ」に描かれたのはどこかが謎だった。

地質学者でイタリア・ルネッサンスの専門家でもあるアン・ピッツォルッソさんは、その場所を特定したと主張している。

それは北イタリアのコモ湖に面した小さな町、レッコだ。レッコ特有の石灰岩の岩層が、レオナルド・ダ・ヴィンチの絵画（「モナ・リザ」）の背景に描かれている風景のものと一致すると彼女は言う。
