自宅で亡くなる独居の高齢者、年間6万8000人に：警察庁

Japan’s National Police Agency says an estimated 68,000 elderly people aged 65 or older die at home alone annually.

The number is based on a count of so-called solitary deaths, from the first quarter of this year.

Of the 21,716 people who died alone at home from January to March, nearly 80% were people aged 65 and over, the NPA said on May 13.

65歳以上の高齢者が一人暮らしの自宅で亡くなる件数は、年間ベースで推計6万8000人にもなる、と警察庁が発表した。

この数字は、今年第一四半期にいわゆる「孤独死」で亡くなった65歳以上の高齢者の件数に基づいている。

警察庁が5月13日に発表したところによると、今年1月から3月にかけて自宅で亡くなった一人暮らしの人、2万1716人のうち、約80％が65歳以上の人々だったという。
