Melons go for a whopping ¥3.5 million
A pair of Hokkaido melons went for ¥3.5 million at the year’s first auction in Hokkaido on May 25.
The price was the second-highest bid on record at the event. It was ¥500,000 higher than the top price in last year’s auction.
The highest bid on record was ¥5 million in 2019.
The Yubari-grown melons are famous for their sweet taste and orange flesh.
