トルコの女性、長身世界一に

Rumeysa Gelgi is officially the world’s tallest living woman.

Guinness World Records confirmed her height in mid-October as 2 meters and 15 centimeters.

The Turkish 24-year-old was born with a rare genetic disease, Weaver Syndrome. It makes her grow very quickly, but also has confined her to a wheelchair.

She has some advice for people who feel they are different: “I personally believe that people can turn their disabilities into an advantage for themselves”.

ルメイサ・ゲルギさんは、公式に世界で最も背の高い女性と認められた。

10月中旬、ギネス世界記録が彼女の身長を2メートル15センチと認定した。

トルコ出身の24歳の彼女は、ウィーバー症候群という珍しい遺伝子の疾患を持って生まれた。この病気が原因で、彼女は過成長したが、同時に車いすでの生活を余儀なくされた。

ゲルギさんは、自分が他の人と異なると感じている人たちに対しこのように助言している、「人は身体的な障害があっても、自らそれを長所に変えられると私自身は信じている」。
