ミャンマーで軍事政権に反発しデモ続く

Crowds of people marched in Yangon on March 1 in search of democracy, and they defied police who reportedly killed 18 people in protests a day earlier.

The demonstrators were protesting the coup of a month earlier. On Feb. 1, the military seized control of the Myanmar government and ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

Police fired tear gas on the protestors in the March 1 protest and chased people as they gathered.

ミャンマーの最大都市ヤンゴンで3月1日、多くの人々が民主化を求める大規模なデモ行進に参加し、前日の抗議デモで18人を死亡させたと伝えられる治安部隊への抗議が行われた。

デモ参加者は１ヵ月前に起きたクーデターに抗議していた。2月１日に、軍は民主化の指導者であるアウンサンスーチー氏を排除し、武力でミャンマー政権を掌握した。

治安部隊は、3月１日のデモ参加者に催涙ガスを発射、集まった市民を追い回した。
