英でジョン・レノンの記念硬貨発売へ

John Lennon appears in a specially minted British coin collection, the Royal Mint announced on March 14.

The coin went on sale on March 17. It features his name, a portrait of Lennon and the word “Imagine,” one of his most famous hits.

The former Beatles member was shot dead outside his New York apartment building on Dec. 8, 1980. He was 40.

The mint said Lennon will be remembered for his music and as a peace advocate.

英国王立造幣局は3月14日、ジョン・レノンが特別に鋳造された英国硬貨のコレクションに登場すると発表した。

この硬貨は3月17日に発売された。硬貨にはジョン・レノンの名前と彼の最も有名なヒット曲の１つだった「Imagine」の文字、そしてレノンの肖像があしらわれている。

「ビートルズ」のメンバーだったジョン・レノンは1980年12月8日にニューヨークの自宅前で射殺された。40歳だった。

英王立造幣局^＊は、レノンはその音楽とともに、平和主義者として記憶されるだろうと述べた。
