日本の鉄道線路、熱波でゆがみ頻発

High summer temperatures are warping railway tracks more often than in the past, according to media reports.

On Aug. 1, NHK reported that rails had warped on part of the Kagoshima Line in Kumamoto Prefecture.

Part of the line was suspended.

Kyushu Railway, which operates the line, said heat caused delays or service disruptions at least three times this year. Last year, it was just once.

報道によると、夏に気温が上昇し鉄道線路が以前よりも頻繁にゆがんでいるという。

8月1日には熊本県の鹿児島本線の一部でレールがゆがんだとNHKが伝えた。

一部の区間が運休した。

同線を運営する九州旅客鉄道（JR九州）は、今年は少なくとも3回、熱波による遅延や運行停止が発生したとしている。昨年は1回だけだった。
