米国で初、受刑者がトップクラスの大学を卒業

Sixteen prisoners graduated from a top-ranked American college on Nov. 15. They were the first prisoners to do so in U.S. history.

The 16 prisoners got degrees from Northwestern University. They were part of an education program for prisoners in the state of Illinois.

About 100 students are enrolled in the program. It is run by Northwestern, along with Oakton College and the Illinois Department of Corrections.

11月15日、16人の受刑者が米国のトップクラスの大学を卒業した。米国史上初めて、大学教育を修了した受刑者となる。

16人の受刑者はノースウェスタン大学で学位を取得した。彼らはイリノイ州で実施されている受刑者向けの教育プログラムに参加していた。
