UNESCO puts baguette on cultural heritage list
UNESCO on Nov. 30 added the baguette to its list of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
France’s stick-like bread loaf is famous for its texture. Its crust is crunchy and its insides are fluffy.
“The baguette is a daily ritual in France, and it helps structure a meal. It is important that these skills and social habits continue to exist in the future ”, said UNESCO chief Audrey Azoulay.

ユネスコは11月30日、フランスパンのバゲットを無形文化遺産に登録した。
フランスの棒状パンは、その食感が有名である。皮はサクサク、中はふんわりとしている。
ユネスコのオードリー・アズレイ事務局長は、「バゲットはフランスでは日常生活の一部です。このような生産技術や社会的習慣を将来にわたって続けていくことが大切なのです」と述べている。
