韓国、年齢の数え方を改変

South Korean lawmakers on Dec. 8 changed the way that the country’s citizens count their age for official documents.

Koreans traditionally count babies as age 1 at birth. Also, all Koreans add a year to their official age every Jan. 1.

But now Koreans will switch to the international standard used in countries like Japan.

Newborns will be age zero when they are born, and every Korean will add a year on their birthday.

韓国の議員らは2022年12月8日、公文書に記載される国民の年齢の数え方を変更した。

韓国では伝統的に、生まれた時点で子供を１歳と数える。そして韓国人はすべて毎年１月１日に公的な年齢として１歳を加算している。

しかし、これからは日本などで使われている国際標準に切り替わる。

新生児は0歳で、どの韓国人も誕生日に１歳、年を重ねることになる。
