日本人冒険家、83歳で太平洋横断に成功

Kenichi Horie has become the oldest person to sail solo and nonstop across the Pacific Ocean in a yacht.

The 83-year-old reached the Kii Channel on June 4. He was sailing his 6-meter-long yacht ‘Suntory Mermaid III’.

Horie had set sail from San Francisco on March 27.

By phone, he said he was grateful for all the support he received during the 8,500-kilometer voyage.

6月4日、83歳の堀江さんは紀伊水道に入港した。彼は全長6メートルのサントリーマーメイドIII号で航海していた。

堀江さんは3月27日にサンフランシスコを出航していた。

電話で彼は、8,500キロに及ぶ航海の中で受けた多くの支援に感謝していると語った。
