「となりのトトロ」、ロンドンの劇場で上演決定

One of Studio Ghibli’s most popular animated movies will open in London in October — not as a film but as a stage play.

My Neighbor Totoro was adapted for the stage by British playwright Tom Morton-Smith and director Phelim McDermott.

Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi will provide the music. He did the music for the original film, which was released in 1988. He said, “I am glad that It will reach a global audience even if the stage play is performed in a different language.”

スタジオジブリの人気アニメーション映画のひとつが舞台化され、10月にロンドンで上演される。

｢となりのトトロ｣は、イギリスの劇作家トム・モートンスミスさんと演出家フェリム・マクダーモットさんによって舞台化された。

音楽は作曲家の久石譲さんが担当する。久石さんは1988年に公開された原作映画の音楽を手掛けている。「たとえ異なる言語での舞台上演だとしても、世界中の観客の心に届けることができるのはうれしいことです。」と彼は話している。
