熊本城天守閣、修復後５年ぶりに一般公開

A pair of massive earthquakes damaged Kumamoto Castle in 2016. It was shut down for repairs.

The earthquakes registered as a 7 on Japan’s seismic intensity scale, and after years of restoration work, the castle’s main tower reopened to the public on June 28.

The tower is six stories high. The top floor gives people a panoramic view of Kumamoto Castle Park. The entire park is still being restored until around 2037.

2016年、2度の大地震が熊本城に大きな損害を与えた。城は修復のために閉鎖されていた。

地震は震度７を記録し、その後何年にもわたる修復作業が行われたが、6月28日に天守閣が一般公開された。

天守閣は6階建て。 最上階からは熊本城公園を一望できる。 公園全体は今後も2037年頃まで修復が続く。
