Japanese students getting better at English
School students in Japan are getting better at English, according to an education ministry survey released on June 23.
The survey for fiscal 2024 found that 52.4% of junior high school third graders’ English skills were equivalent to Grade 3 or higher in the Eiken proficiency test.
The proportion was 2.4 percentage points higher than the fiscal 2023 survey.
The ministry has conducted the survey every year since fiscal 2013.
