日本製アプリ、遭難登山者の捜索に貢献

A hiking app, developed by a Japanese company, is helping rescuers find missing climbers.

The app, Yamap, can share a phone’s exact location even with no cellphone service.

At present, police in a total of 16 prefectures across the country are pairing with the app’s maker to get fast access to the data.

Rescue officials use the data to help locate climbers who are lost in the mountains.

日本の企業が開発した登山用アプリが、遭難した登山者を救助するのに役立っている。

このアプリ「Yamap」は、携帯の電波が届かない場所でも、携帯電話の正確な位置情報を共有することができる。

現在、全国16の都道府県警察がアプリのメーカーと提携し、アプリの位置データに素早くアクセスできるようになっている。

救助隊員はこのデータを使って、山で遭難した登山者の居場所を特定することができる。
