韓国、ハロウィーンの大惨事で追悼

People across South Korea mourned after more than 150 people died in a Halloween crowd stampede in Seoul on Oct. 29.

In the evening stampede, people surged into a narrow street in the Itaewon district. Witnesses said people fell “like dominoes.”

Officials said on Oct. 30 that 153 people, mostly young adults, were killed.

President Yoon Suk-yeol announced a weeklong period of mourning on Oct. 31.

10月29日、ソウルで起きたハロウィーンでの群衆の殺到で150人以上が死亡し、韓国中の人々が哀悼の意を表した。

この夕方の大惨事となったのは、梨泰院地区の狭い路地に大勢の人々が押し寄せたためである。目撃した人は、人々が 「ドミノのように」倒れたと語った。

当局は10月30日、死亡した153人はほとんどが若者であったと発表した。

ユン・ソギョル大統領は10月31日、国中で１週間の追悼期間を宣言した。
