英国女王エリザベス2世、96歳で死去

Queen Elizabeth II died on Sept. 8. Tens of thousands of people gathered at the gates of Buckingham Palace in central London when they heard the news.

Elizabeth was Britain’s longest-serving monarch. She was crowned queen in 1953 at the age of 25.

Her oldest child, 73-year-old Charles, immediately became king. He is now King Charles III.

Following his mother’s death, the new king released a statement.

“We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother,” the statement read.

エリザベス2世が9月8日に死去した。この知らせを受けて、ロンドンの中心にあるバッキンガム宮殿の入り口に多くの人々が集まった。

エリザベス女王は、英国で最も長く君主を務めた。女王に即位したのは、1953年、25歳の時だった。

長男で73歳のチャールズ皇太子が直ちに国王となり、現在、チャールズ3世となっている。

母である女王の死去に伴い、新国王は声明を発表した。

「私たちは、大切な君主と、多くの人びとに愛された我が国の母が亡くなったことを深く悼みます」と声明では述べている。
