スペイン、トマト投げが復活

After a two-year break, the Tomatina festival was held in Bunol, a town in eastern Spain, on Aug. 31.

Thousands of people threw around 130 tons of tomatoes at each other. The main street of Bunol was covered in red juice.

The festival was canceled for 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic. This event is said to have started in 1945.

Tomatina usually draws thousands of people, including many from overseas.

８月３１日、スペイン東部の町ブニョールで、３年ぶりに「トマティーナ」祭りが開催された。

数千人が約130トンのトマトを投げ合い、ブニョールのメインストリートは赤いトマトジュースで覆われた。

この祭りは、新型コロナウィルスの感染拡大のため、2020年と2021年は中止された。このイベントは1945年に始まったという。

「トマティーナ」にはいつも、海外からの参加者も含め数千人が集まる。
