Court orders Tabelog operator to pay damages
The Tokyo District Court ordered the operator of Tabelog, a popular restaurant review website, to pay about ¥38.4 million in damages to a Korean barbecue chain on June 16.
The restaurant chain had lower scores on the Tabelog review website because of its operator Kakaku.com Inc.’s rating algorithm, the court found.
The court said the rating system was unfair to chain outlets and was a violation of the antimonopoly law.
