75歳以上の高齢者の医療費自己負担増へ

Some people aged 75 or older will have to pay more for out-of-pocket medical fees, according to a Japanese government plan.

The plan was finalized on Dec. 14 and will start by the end of fiscal 2022. It applies to older people living alone with an annual income of ¥2 million or more, officials said. About 3.7 million people will be affected by the change.

The plan aims to help ease the payment burden on younger people.

政府案によると、75歳以上の一部高齢者は、医療費の自己負担額をより多く支払わなければならなくなる見込みである。

政府の最終報告書は12月14日にとりまとめられ、2022年度末までに施行される予定。単身世帯で年収が200万円以上の高齢者に適用されることになると、政府関係者は述べた。この変更によって約370万人が影響を受ける。

この改革案は若い世代の負担を緩和することを目的としている。
