大英博物館、コレクションをデジタル化

The British Museum will digitize its entire collection, it said on Oct. 18.

It made the decision after it reported in August that 2,000 artifacts had been stolen or were missing.

The police are investigating the thefts. Their suspect is a museum staff member. The museum fired the person after the thefts were reported.

The digitization project will take five years.

大英博物館は10月18日、全所蔵品をデジタル化すると発表した。

このデジタル化計画の決定は、博物館が同年8月、2,000点の美術品が盗まれたり紛失していると発表した後に下されている。

警察が盗難について捜査中だが、博物館の職員が容疑者とされている。盗難が発覚した後、その人物は解雇されている。

デジタル化プロジェクトの完了には5年かかる。
