カナダ、ホッキョクグマの大量死を調査報告

A survey of polar bears in a part of Canada has found that they are dying in high numbers.

The survey was done by air by the Canadian government.

The survey found 618 polar bears in 2021, down from 842 in 2016.

The Arctic is warming twice as fast as the rest of the world. That means there is less ice for polar bears to hunt on.

カナダの一部の地域で行なわれた調査で、かなりの数のホッキョクグマが死んでいることがわかった。

調査はカナダ政府により上空から行なわれた。

調査では、2021年に確認されたホッキョクグマの個体数は618頭となり、2016年の842頭から減少していることがわかった。

北極は他の地域に比べ2倍の速さで温暖化が進んでいる。そのためホッキョクグマがエサ探しの狩場にする氷が減少している。
