1 in 29 babies born in 2014 had non-Japanese parent

 

One in 29 babies born in Japan in 2014 had at least one non-Japanese parent, according to a Kyodo News analysis of government data. In that year, 1.02 million babies were born. About 35,000, or 3.40 percent of the total, were born either to non-Japanese parents or to Japanese and non-Japanese couples. The ratio is close to the record high of 3.44 percent in 2008.

共同通信が政府統計(※)を分析したところ、2014年に日本で生まれた赤ちゃんの29人に1人は、少なくとも両親の1人が日本人ではなかったことが分かった。この年に生まれた赤ちゃんは102万人。そのうち、約3万5千人、3.40パーセントの赤ちゃんは、両親とも日本人でなかったか、あるいは親のどちらかが日本人でなかった。この割合は、過去最も高かった2008年の3.44パーセントに次ぐものだ。
