Air New Zealand passengers are getting weighed before they board international flights.

The airline has instituted the check of passengers and their carry-on baggage to help pilots to balance planes before they take off.

Passengers can say no to the check. But even if they step on the scales, no one will see their weight, not even airline staff.

ニュージーランド航空は国際線に搭乗する乗客の体重を測定している。

同航空会社は、パイロットが離陸前に飛行機のバランスをとるのに役立てるため、乗客と機内持ち込み手荷物の重量の検査を実施している。

乗客は調査に協力しなくても構わない。ただ、たとえ体重計に乗ったとしても、航空会社のスタッフでさえ誰もその体重を見ることはできないようになっているという。
