Bob Dylan named winner of Nobel Prize in literature

American musician Bob Dylan, a driving force of the countercultural ’60s, was chosen to receive the Nobel Prize in literature on Oct. 13.

The Swedish Academy chose Dylan for his “poetic expressions” in song.

Dylan championed civil rights in his music through songs like Blowin in the Wind and The Times They Are A-Changin’, and influenced generations of musicians.
