Kennedy says ambassadorship in Japan was ‘great privilege’

Caroline Kennedy said that serving as the U.S. ambassador to Japan was “the greatest privilege of my life” in a farewell video message uploaded to YouTube on Jan. 16.

Ambassador Kennedy spent three years in the country and said in the video that she hopes to visit Japan again one day.

Kennedy’s ambassadorship ended on Jan. 20, when Donald Trump was inaugurated into the presidency.

キャロライン・ケネディ駐日米大使は、1月16日にユーチューブにアップされたお別れのビデオメッセージで、駐日大使となれたことは「わたしの人生でこの上ない栄誉」だったと述べた。

日本で3年間の任期を終えたケネディ大使だが、いつか日本に戻ってきたい、とビデオの中で語っている。

同大使の職務はドナルド・トランプ氏が米大統領に就任した１月20日をもって終了した。
