Bangladesh boy wins children’s peace prize 

A 17-year-old Bangladeshi boy won the International Children’s Peace Prize on Nov. 13. 

Sadat Rahman won the prize for making an app to help fight cyberbullying. The app connects a network of volunteers who approach police or social workers.

Rahman said he made the app when he read about a 15-year-old girl who was cyberbullied and then killed herself. More than 300 victims of online crimes have been supported since its launch.

17歳のバングラデシュ人の少年が、「国際子ども平和賞」を11月13日に受賞した。

シャダット・ラハマンさんは、ネットいじめに立ち向かうことを支援するアプリの開発で同賞を受賞した。このアプリは、警察やソーシャルワーカーに通じるボランティアのネットワークにつながっている。

ラハマンさんは、ネットいじめを受けて自ら命を絶った15歳の少女のことを記事で読んで、このアプリを作ったと述べた。アプリの提供開始以来３００人以上の被害者が支援を受けたという。
