Hiroshima Carp wins Central League pennant

The Hiroshima Toyo Carp beat the Yomiuri Giants in the latter’s home stadium of Tokyo Dome on Sept. 10 to win the Central League championship in a rousing come-from-behind victory.

It was the Carp’s first time to take the pennant since 1991.

Early on, the Carp were down two runs, but came back to win 6-4, aided by a solid outing by veteran pitcher Hiroki Kuroda.
